Gaming1 launches first licensed casino in Portugal
Supplier teams-up with local casino owner Estoril Sol in 50:50 joint-venture
Gaming1 has entered into a partnership with Portuguese land-based casino giant Estoril Sol to launch the country’s first licensed online casino and become just the third licensee in the recently regulated market.
The 50:50 joint-venture is EstorilSolCasinos.pt, which comprises desktop and mobile platforms featuring 15 video slots, two roulette and one blackjack game, with additional content to be added in the coming weeks.
GAMING1 CEO, Sylvain Boniver, said the firm’s deal with Estoril Sol, which controls 64% of the retail market in Portugal through its Estoril, Lisboa and P?voa casinos, reflected the company’s ability to be “an all-round partner, not just a provider”.
“We are passionate about partnering with land-based operators who want to put their business online, as this really is part of our DNA and what makes us stand out from the rest of the industry,” Boniver said.
“It’s a very proud moment for us to launch the first licensed website to offer legal online casino in Portugal and together we hold all the aces to move forward in this exciting market,” he added.
Estoril Sol executive director, Vieira Coelho, added: “We like to enter into partnerships with companies and GAMING1 is the perfect partner for us to really target the Portuguese online casino market.”
The JV joins Betclic Everest Group and the SBTech-powered Bet Entertainment Technologies as the only Portuguese online operating licence holders.
