Tombola primed for Dutch market debut
UK bingo operator to launch in newly regulated country as it looks to establish Amsterdam-based team
Tombola is poised to make its entry into the soon-to-be regulated Dutch market after applying for a licence with the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA). The bingo operator is looking to expand its European presence and has hired former Activision Blizzard commercial director Marc Smit to be its first country manager for the Netherlands, as first reported by CasinoNieuws. Additionally, tombola is advertising three job roles in its newly established Dutch team, all based in Amsterdam. The operator is searching for a Dutch speaking chat moderator, marketing assistant and marketing executive as it gears up for the market to launch in October. In April, the KSA revealed it had received 28 licence applications from the first wave of operators looking to gain a foothold in the market. Each licence application costs €48,000 and many industry giants are expected to offer their services in the country. Speaking to CasinoNieuws, Smit said: “Tombola only operates in countries where gambling is legal. Today, the organisation is the leading online bingo company in Spain, Italy, Denmark and Sweden with offices in Milan, Madrid, Copenhagen and Gibraltar. “The company has plans to expand even further. The next country is the Netherlands and we expect to be able to launch the website in October,” he added.
