Scientific Games joins forces with Playtech in global distribution deal
Las Vegas-based supplier continues content-led igaming pivot and eyes Latam gains with Playtech’s online casino portfolio
Scientific Games has signed a mutual distribution agreement with long-time supplier rival Playtech. The market-leading technology providers will now benefit from the scale of each business in strategic territories. For example, Playtech is looking to expand across the US and Scientific Games is seeking to strengthen its presence in Latam and Europe. Playtech’s software will be made available to operators via SG Digital’s Open Gaming System (OGS). The agreement covers the bulk of Playtech’s online casino offering, including its portfolio of slots, table games and live casino content, all of which will be integrated with a suite of features and promotions from Scientific Games. Playtech’s game content will be rolled out via the Scientific Games OGS initially in New Jersey with further US states to follow in future. OGS boasts a combination of more than 2,500 in-house and third-party games titles. Playtech COO Shimon Akad said of the agreement: “This is an exciting deal featuring two of the industry’s biggest names that is set to have a major impact on igaming across the globe. “A key pillar of our strategy is to increase the distribution of our software through mutually beneficial partnerships with leading B2B suppliers in leading markets, alongside increasing the depth of the content and services we offer to our existing customers. “This partnership will significantly increase SG’s distribution to regulated markets in Latam and Europe while also providing operators in those markets with a richer portfolio of igaming content. “Playtech looks forward to benefiting from SG’s leadership in the US as we look to roll out Playtech casino software in all regulated states,” he added. The combination falls in line with Scientific Games’ recent pivot to divest its lottery and sports betting segments. The streamlined company will now focus solely on the provision of content-led igaming products and last week moved to acquire the remaining 19% stake in social gaming subsidiary SciPlay. SG Digital CEO Jordan Levin said: “Together with Playtech, we’ll bring quality and exciting gaming content to the US market and beyond. “This latest partnership once again demonstrates the key role that OpenGaming plays in opening new opportunities for gaming providers to extend their footprint within key regulated markets. “We’re very excited to be bringing Playtech’s world-renowned games to our operating partners across the globe and providing their player base with exceptional entertainment experiences.”
