SportsBetting.com awarded Malta B2C licence
Carousel Group’s flagship brand eyes Canadian and European expansion opportunities after licence award
SportsBetting.com has been awarded a B2C online sports betting and casino gaming licence by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).
SportsBetting.com, which is owned by the Madrid-based Carousel Group, launched in Colorado in September and is due to expand into four more US states by the end of 2021.
With this new arrow in the quiver in the shape of a MGA licence, Carousel Group noted that it would serve the operator well moving forward.
Carousel Group pointed towards the potential shift in regulations in Canada, specifically Ontario, as a potential target area now the group held the licence.
The company also stated that with the acquisition of the MGA licence it would provide a “tax-efficient structure for entering European markets in the future”.
Daniel Graetzer, Carousel Group CEO, said: “Receiving our licence from the MGA is a major achievement for our company and a catalyst for our future goals. After two years of product development and building our team of more than 100 employees, SportsBetting.com is now live in the US and we could not be more excited to compete.
“We’re thrilled about our US expansion and we look forward to bringing SportsBetting.com to more markets. As our brands become household names in the gaming space, we will make a positive and everlasting impression on the global gaming community,” he added.
