Exclusive: Betsson casino MD to depart
Joey Hurtado to leave the business later this month with no direct replacement planned
Betsson’s managing director (MD) of casino brands Joey Hurtado is set to depart the business later this month, EGR can reveal.
Hurtado’s final day will be on 12 July after more than two years with the operator.
He joined Betsson from GVC in 2017, initially as head of live casino then head of gaming before becoming MD for casino brands in February this year amid a small reshuffle as Ciara Nic Liam joined the company.
Hurtado said he was still evaluating options for his next role.
He will not directly be replaced at the operator, with Betsson saying it was not necessary following a reorganisation of the firm’s casino brands which saw P&L responsibility for those brands allocated by market rather than by brand.
This type of reorganisation was first carried out within Betsson in February last year but casino brands were originally excluded.
Betsson said the new structure would help improve flexibility, for example allowing brands to invest more in marketing campaigns that were generating positive ROI.
The operator launched liveroulette.com into the UK market as it looks to prioritise casino over sports betting.
