Oddschecker Cheltenham round-up : BetVictor takes market share as Sky Bet slips back
Largest operators continue to lose share of price sensitive punters to smaller firms
BetVictor was the biggest gainer of Oddschecker clickshare at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, according to new figures from the odds comparison site.
BetVictor enjoyed 7.9% of all clicks through the site across the four days of the Festival, up from 5% in 2017.
The improvement was driven at least partially by its place concessions, with the Gibraltar-based firm offering the most places over the course of the week, including a total of 31 places on both Thursday and Friday, with their closest competitor on Thursday offering 29.
William Hill was the other big gainer among the eight largest bookies, growing share from 7.4% last year to 9.3% this year.
Oddschecker noted the uptick was also partially down to place concession with Hills offering extra places on the first race on multiple days.

Elsewhere, market leaders bet365 and Sky Bet both lost share relative to last year, with bet365 dipping from 19% to 17.6%, although it still led the market.
Sky Bet went from 12.7% to 10.2%, although its app was the most downloaded app in the App store for part of the week suggesting it was appealing to its core mass market beyond the more price sensitive Oddschecker crowd
Paddy Power, Betfair, Coral and Ladbrokes all saw their market share tick down slightly suggesting the largest bookmakers continued to lose share to smaller operators, a trend seen last year as well.
The likes of 888Sport, Black Type and Marathonbet were very competitive on price throughout the week.
