ATG completes Ecosys acquisition following Swedish regulation
Swedish operator buys Danish sports betting, online and mobile casino brands
Former Swedish monopoly operator ATG has announced the completion of its long-standing deal to acquire Danish gaming group Ecosys A/S.
The deal, which was first signed in November 2017, includes three brands in sports betting brand Bet25.dk, online casino brand Rød25.dk and mobile casino brand casinogo.dk.
ATG CEO Hasse Lord Skarplöth said the acquisition of the “well-established” brands would enable ATG to capitalise on the “good opportunities for growth in the Danish market”.
Under the terms of the deal, both parties agreed to wait until the Swedish gambling market had successfully regulated.
At the time, ATG operated as a monopoly, together with Svenska Spel, however following regulation over 116 other gambling firms have entered the Swedish market.
As part of this regulation, ATG has obtained an online casino and sports betting licence from regulator Spelinspektionen.
“Sweden is one of the world’s leading trot sports and the entrance to the Danish market means that more people have access to a gaming experience of absolutely world class,” Skarplöth said.
“Reasonably, the game pools will also grow, which we hope and believe pleases our players,” he added.
