Ladbrokes head of sportsbook product departs for Hills role
Liam Barbour to take up head of customer product role at Hills' London HQ in May as it continues to shake up it product team
Head of product at Ladbrokes, Liam Barbour, has left GVC this month to take up a new role as head of customer at William Hill.
Barbour spent 18 months working on the Ladbrokes sportsbook from the firm’s London office.
He will take gardening leave until May when he’ll start his new role at William Hill’s Bedford Avenue headquarters.
Speaking to EGR Intel, Barbour said: “My new role will still be in product as head of customer product with a focus on the full customer journey and experience.
“My reason for leaving was this exciting new opportunity at Hills that puts a real focus on the customer,” he said.
Before his stint at Ladbrokes Coral, Barbour spent over seven years at Paddy Power Betfair working on the sportsbook product and then heading up the sportsbook and exchange product teams.
On his LinkedIn, Barbour wrote: “That was my second stint at the Magic Sign and over the last 18 months I met some amazing people, some great friends (old and new) and a merger with GVC thrown in for good measure,” he said.
The hire comes amid a period of turnover on the William Hill product team after the operator kicked off a consultation of its digital business that could out more than 100 jobs at risk.
EGR understands the operator’s Gibraltar-based UX team and a number of senior online gaming roles have been put at risk of redundancy as part of the consultation process.
