The key findings this quarter:
• Winner – The biggest leap in the sample owas taken by Jumbo Interactive with an increase of +43% over the past three months; followed by Betsson (+26%).
• Loser – Playtech shares took the biggest 3-month hit with a decrease of -34%.
• Average growth – On average, the share prices of the analysed companies decreased by -5.5%.
• Comparison to FTSE 100 – Compared to the 3-month development of the FTSE 100 (-1%), the average development of the online gambling industry looks worse.
• Multi-channel operators – Among the multi-channel operators that also operate a significant retail business GVC is the “winner” with a share development of -5% over the past months. Among the multi-channel operators, Paddy Power Betfair took the biggest hit with a decrease in share price of -17%.
• Comparison to multi-channel operators – It is also interesting to compare the performance of exclusively online gambling companies with that of companies also operating a retail/land-based business. The share prices of the online/retail operators analysed decreased on average by -12% (compared to -5.5% for the online-only operators).
