Matchbook to “disrupt complacent rivals” with new 0% commission offer
Exchange operator to offer commission-free betting for new customers on all sports
Matchbook has pledged to “disrupt the complacency” of its competitors in the betting exchange market, with the launch of two new 0% commission offers.
Customers that sign up for a Matchbook account before June 14th will get commission free betting on all sports until the end of 2018, while the firm has also extended its 0% commission offer on racing for all punters.
“Exchange betting is, and always has been, about giving unbeatable value to customers, and we feel like our competitors have taken their eye off the ball in this respect,” said Matchbook CEO Mark Brosnan.
“It has been a hugely successful start to the year for Matchbook, with active customers on the exchange increasing by 86% and betting stakes increasing by 127% – so clearly customers are appreciating the extra value they are getting.
“Horse racing has been commission free since February, and this has been a key factor in the growth – as such, it was a no-brainer to extend this for a further two months, until the end of June.”
On the new sign-up offer, Brosnan added: “Quite simply, it’s the best value offer available, and means there is no excuse for bettors not to move over to Matchbook”.
Betfair has previously criticised rivals for indulging in a “race to the bottom” with offers like 0% commission on racing bets.
The market-leader has so far stuck with its traditional commission structure, although saw exchange revenues dip 7% in Q1.
