Unikrn plots “full-blown skill-based betting” with latest acquisition
Operator acquires esports pool betting platform that will integrate Unikrn cryptocurrency and enable players to compete in p2p challenges
Esports betting operator Unikrn has acquired P2P tournament platform ChallengeME.GG (CME) with the aim of developing a skill-based pool betting product.
The platform, to be launched on Unikrn in May, will enable users to enter esports betting prizepools using Unikrn virtual currency UnikoinGold.
CME will also offers gamers the ability to compete in a number of esports titles across various tournaments and leagues, on the Unikrn platform.
Pools will eventually be expanded to offer bets on personal p2p esports challenges being carried out by Unikrn users.
Unikrn is currently a ‘traditional’ esports betting site.
In a blog post, Unikrn founder Rahul Sood said: “This is going to be the platform we use to bring skill-based betting products to our users as well.
“Remember, Unikrn has patent-pending technology on placing crypto bets on video game contests,” Sood added.
“Now it’s time for us to flex that IP, starting with the CME platform.”
CME CEO Simon Seefeldt said the deal meant CME would not have to launch its own ICO and it could take advantage of the best gaming crypto had to offer.
Unikrn was awarded a licence by the MGA and began rolling-out its offering in Europe earlier this year. It also brought on board egaming veteran and former Tabcorp deputy COO, Andrew Vouris, to lead the project.
