Oddschecker rankings: Black Type a surprise market leader for World Cup clicks
FSB-powered bookmaker ranks second for World Cup clicks, behind only bet365
Black Type is a surprise market leader in Oddschecker’s World Cup click share rankings, provided exclusively to EGR.
In the wake of last Friday’s draw, the relatively young bookie is taking 13% of World Cup clicks through the odds-comparison site, good for second in the market, behind only bet365.
Much of the firm’s success was driven by the 8/1 it offered over the weekend on Brazil to lift the trophy (5/1 – 11/2 generally), as the brand boasted a giant 72.5% share of all betslip clicks on the five-time champions.
Black Type, which is powered by FSB Technology, has said in the past it is willing to “take on” punters and stand out from the market based on the opinions of its traders.
Stoke-headquartered bet365 continued to lead the way in term of market share with just under 20% of clicks, while Sky Bet came in third with just under 10%.
Elsewhere, the draw saw the patriotic punters out in force with England the second most supported team since Friday’s draw, behind Brazil, with 14.6% of all World Cup win market betslip clicks, whilst their odds shortened initially from 24/1 to 16/1.
Betway are now top price at 20/1.
Oddschecker’s head of media George Elek, said: “The weight of money staked on England saw their price tumble, but the interest in Blacktype’s stand-out 8/1 on Brazil to lift the trophy is evidence that value is king, with punters eager to snap-up the generous price about the five-time winners.”
