Lottoland hires rival Camelot’s corporate affairs chief
Laura Pearson joins from Global division of Camelot to take on head of corporate affairs role
Lottoland has appointed Camelot Global’s corporate affairs chief, Laura Pearson, as the Gibraltar-based operator’s new head of corporate affairs.
Pearson, who previously held corporate communications and government relations roles at Whitbread and ITV, joins the operator next month after more than five years at rival firm Camelot.
“We’re delighted to welcome Laura on board to lead our corporate affairs team, and have no doubt she will be an invaluable addition to our organisation,” Nigel Birrell, Lottoland CEO, said.
“It is crucial we employ top talent to ensure success across the board – Laura will help us do just that.”
Pearson’s appointment will be seen as a major scoop for Lottoland, which has often found itself at loggerheads with Camelot since launching in 2013.
Birrell recently said Camelot needed to “take a long hard look in the mirror” after the UK government announced it was looking at closing a loophole which would prevent the operator from offering bets on EuroMillions draws in the country.
The Gibraltar-based operator recently announced the launch of its first independent lottery product WorldMillions and made its debut in Ireland under the leadership of former Betfair Ireland regional manager Graham Ross.
