Lottoland rolls out “world’s first global lottery”
WorldMillions, operator’s debut independent product, offers a guaranteed total jackpot of £150m across two weekly draws
Lottoland has today launched the “world’s first global lottery”, a product it says instantly offers the largest guaranteed jackpot worldwide.
WorldMillions, which will be held twice a week starting this Thursday, will see the Thursday draw jackpots fixed at £50m and the Sunday draws offering a minimum top prize of £100m.
Instead of the regular pick-six format, customers must choose an eight-digit number from 00,000,000 to 99,999,999 – numbers are purchased on a first come, first served basis, meaning no number can be sold twice and the jackpot cannot be shared.
However, customers can choose to reserve their favourite numbers for future draws by taking out a long-term subscription.
Tickets for the Thursday draws are priced at £5 and the Sunday draws at £10, although players can also opt to buy one-tenth of a ticket to win a fraction of the prize.
WorldMillions marks Lottoland’s first independent lottery product and, according to the firm, reflects its commitment to innovation in the lottery sector.
“We’re delighted to be able to announce the launch of our first bespoke and exclusive lottery betting product, WorldMillions at the time the Gambling Commission is calling for innovation within the industry,” Nigel Birrell, Lottoland CEO, said.
“Innovation is what drives everything we do at Lottoland. We are not afraid of experimenting however we never lose sight of what our customers want.
“WorldMillions will be the first of several major innovations that will be introduced in 2017 and that will see us further establish our business as a truly world leading operator in the lottery sector.”
The firm added that pay outs would be covered by its insurance-based model which has already seen the firm pay out more that £400m, including its highest single payment of £19m.
