Tabcorp named UFC's new official betting partner
Multi-year deal includes significant branding opportunities for the operator during prominent fights hosted Down Under
Tabcorp has struck a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to become the mixed martial arts (MMA) company’s new official betting and wagering partner for Australia.
The multi-year partnership will see the Melbourne-based operator’s flagship TAB.com.au brand sponsor all UFC live events Down Under, including the impending fight between Luke Rockhold and Jacare Souza on 27 November.
“Tab.com.au is proud to be the first Australian-owned and operated UFC partner,” Tabcorp’s chief operating officer â wagering & media, Craig Nugent said. “This partnership reflects UFC’s growing popularity among our customers.”
The ASX-listed operator’s deal with the MMA promoter also includes branding of TAB.com.au on the kit of fighters, in addition to marketing opportunities across prominent social and digital platforms.
“We are delighted to be in business with TAB.com.au,” Tom Wright, UFC executive vice president and general manager Australia, New Zealand and Canada, said.
“We look forward to working with them as we continue to grow our sport not only in Australia, but around the world. Collaboratively, we hope to deliver our fans the best possible experience as they enjoy UFC.”
This week’s deal comes after Tabcorp recently reported a 12% rise in full-year digital wagering turnover as the company eyes future international growth from its UK Sun Bets venture.
According to the company’s 2015-16 financial statement, online turnover increased to AU$3.8bn (£2.2bn) during the 12-month period, boosted by the launch of its new TAB mobile app.
