Bet365 sportsbook leads the way for fifth month running
Bet365 maintained its lead over its closest rival Betfair again last month, according to the Oddschecker Top 10 figures.
Bet365 retained the largest market share of the online sportsbooks for the fifth month running in July, thanks to its continued focus on horseracing offers.
The Oddschecker Top 10 showed that Bet365 had a 2.9% lead over its closest rival Betfair, taking 15.6% market share in July. Betfair had 12.7% in July, according to the latest figures from the odds comparison service. However, Betfair received the highest number of betslips on World Cup games during July “ the first time this year that Betfair has gained top market share for football.
Dave Watkins, commercial manager of Oddschecker, said: “It will be interesting to see what happens between the two firms in August when the UK football season kicks off. It’s possible that Betfair could start to close the gap on bet365 after losing the first position to the Stoke firm back in March.”
Ladbrokes and Paddy Power both saw an increase in market share of 0.4% last month, bringing Ladbrokes up to 10.5% and Paddy Power up to 8.8%. Paddy Power’s increase was attributed to promotions and pricing around The Open Championship in the middle of the month. “With competitive pricing on many players the Irish bookmaker enjoyed a 15.3% market share of all golf bets placed through Oddschecker,” said Watkins.
The three operators at the bottom of the top 10 remained evenly matched with Betfred and Coral on 4.6% and Victor Chandler on 4.8%.
