Commonwealth of Kentucky lawsuit targeting Full Tilt and PartyGaming is amended to include Microgaming.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s lawsuit targeting Full Tilt and PartyGaming has been amended to include Microgaming. The lawsuit details that the Isle of Man-based provider allegedly facilitated, hosted, operated, and profited from more than 120 online casino sites and 40 online poker sites from September 29 2005 until it exited Kentucky on 23 October 2008. Kentucky’s case against Full Tilt owners Pocket Kings was filed back in April, with PartyGaming added to the complaint four months later. Kentucky’s first case against internet gambling, in which it sought the forfeiture of 141 internet gambling domain names, was recently sent back to the state’s Supreme Court by the Court of Appeals following a request by the Interactive Media Entertainment and Media Association (iMEGA). Microgaming refused to comment on the matter and said its lawyers were looking into the allegations.
The government of Tasmania in Australia is to levy a 10% gross profits tax on operators as a fee for using the state’s race fields information. The fee will replace the existing 1% tax on turnover. The legislation for the new product fee will not come into effect until next April, and will therefore be applied retroactively. Paddy Power-owned Sportsbet in June won its case and Betfair is currently fighting a court battle against Racing NSW over its introduction of a 1.5% turnover tax for the rights to use race fields information.
A new golf-themed casino has launched, powered by live dealer provider Visionary iGaming. Fairway Casino features Visionary iGaming’s live roulette, blackjack and baccarat products alongside a selection of RNG games, with the launch supported by a range of golf-themed player promotions.
