BETFAIR HAS saved £1.65m in attrition costs in less than two years by ditching recruitment agencies and hiring direct, the company has revealed.
The British betting exchange, which employs 1,800 people, said it has found that directly hired candidates last longer than those hired via agencies, and that development of its careers website made in conjunction with human resources consultants True North has allowed it to increase the proportion of new joiners hired directly.
The company now hires 86% of new joiners direct, up from just 40% 18 months ago when the website development began.
As a result of the changes, attrition levels have dropped below 20% for the first time in three years.
Speaking to HR Magazine, Betfair recruitment head Dickson Moon said: “Betfair needs a recruitment and retention policy that is best in class and we provide this. In addition to recruitment activities we are coaching all line management in the use of assessment tools, interview training and management techniques.
“We are determined to find, recruit and keep all the best candidates in this market- the figures for the last year show this is working.”
As reported on EGRmagazine.com last week, Betfair recently published glowing year-end results showing revenue up by more than a quarter, and adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) up 29%.
