Poll results: Readers split on Facebook real-money impact
No clear consensus on whether Facebook's discussions over real money gambling will positively impact the UK gambling market.
eGaming Review readers remain split on whether the launch of real-money gambling on Facebook would be a positive development for the UK gambling market.
Just under half (49%) of readers believe the effect would be positive, with 51% suggesting the plans currently on the table represent a false dawn.
Since eGR exclusively revealed that Facebook had entered into exploratory talks over potential real-money gambling, a new virtual credits game launch on the social network has been announced by Indian developer Cozy Games.
Pokerstrategy.com CEO Dominik Kofert suggested earlier this week that the talks could prove good for poker, explaining that “A lot of new players could be introduced to real money poker at a time where the overall industry is not doing well.”
Meanwhile Heather Healy, head of social media at Stickyeyes, debated the pros and cons of real-money play on the social network in an exclusive opinion piece for eGR last Friday.
