Intralot launches cloud solution
NEFOS Intralot Cloud marks software provider's move into cloud based systems
Intralot has launched the NEFOS Intralot Cloud, becoming the latest software provider to invest in cloud technology.
NEFOS provides access to Intralot’s product portfolio, including the LOTOS O/S lottery platform and iGem gaming management system, as well as a number of third party software applications. The cloud servers are managed by Intralot, with the operator able to monitor and analyse the performance and usage of the cloud service.
Commenting on the deal, Intralot’s group general technical director of systems Konstantinos Farris was keen to highlight the benefits of cloud technology: “Based on the business objectives of each operator all cloud services can be scaled on-demand and can be utilized for the particular environment that best meets the operator’s specific requirements,” Farris explained.
Cloud systems can allow operators to significantly cut hosting costs, reduce time to market for new products, and give operators extra protection against outages leading to sites going down. Bet365 has already partnered with VMware to build a cloud server for its in-play offering, cutting latency to under 2 seconds.
Intralot follows the likes of Sporting Solutions and CTXM in investing in cloud computing. Sporting Index B2B arm Sporting Solutions launched its Cloud Calculation Engine (C2E) in January this year, while CTXM announced a deal with VMware in January 2011 to provide cloud installations and virtualised desktops to egaming and payments companies.
