Nieboer leaves Betfair
Director of product marketing, planning and pricing named as interim replacement.
Betfair’s global marketing and brand director Oscar Nieboer has left the exchange betting operator after almost five years with the company.
Nieboer joined Betfair in June 2007 after two years as managing director of Virgin Games. According to the company he left the company in January this year in order to pursue opportunities outside of the industry, and has been replaced by Alex Hathway, director of product marketing, planning and pricing on an interim basis. Nieboer was unavailable for comment when contacted by eGaming Review.
Hathway has spent six years with Betfair, moving from BSkyB in 2006, and rose from the position of senior marketing manager to head of planning and product marketing, before being appointed to his current role in September last year.
A spokesman for Betfair confirmed Nieboer’s departure and thanked him for his years of service: “Oscar has left Betfair to pursue a career outside of betting and gaming. During his time at Betfair, he played a key role in shaping Betfair’s marketing strategy and we wish him every success in the future.”
Nieboer’s departure comes following the appointment of a number of senior executives, including Ian Chuter, who joined as global operations director in June 2011, and former Paddy Power COO Breon Corcoran, who will take over as CEO in August this year.
