PKR to launch fast download
3D poker operator expects players' time-to-table to be comparable to 2D rooms.
PKR has rolled out a new ‘fast’ download up to eight times faster than its previous version, the 3D poker operator has claimed.
Players will now take less than five minutes from starting the download to being seated at a table, while download time on a four-megabyte line previously averaged between 20 to 25 minutes, and sometimes longer.
Under the new system players will be able to register and choose avatars before the download has fully completed, gaining access to the software within two minutes of the download starting.
Leon Walters, PKR’s chief operating officer, said: “We wanted to be able to give our players an experience that integrates fast speeds with exceptional levels of quality. With this update, our team have ensured that anyone, anywhere can enjoy the unique PKR experience without any unwanted delays.”
The launch comes less than a year after the Beta-launch of PKR Lite, a 2D client which Walters said at the time was “From a B2B perspective…something we realise we really require”. The client has since launched fully for PC and Mac.
PKR is due to roll out a number of other new software features over the coming months, including tiled tables and a hand-replayer.
