Second Hills domain added to Belgian blacklist
www2.WilliamHIll.com joined by nine others including Betfred and Zeturf, bringing total up to 45.
The Belgian Gaming Commission (BGC) has added 10 more domains to its online gambling blacklist, including a second domain held by London-listed operator William Hill.
Hills’ primary dot.com domain was blacklisted in May along with the likes of Betfair and bwin.party, and the www2.williamhill.com domain has now also been added to the list.
The total number of sites currently on the Belgian blacklist is 45, just under halfway towards the total of 100 which the BGC said it anticipated to reach before the end of the year.
It is unclear whether Hills has been found to have directed players to the secondary domain, an activity of which bwin was accused by the BGC in advance of a legal dispute lost by the operator in June this year. After a Belgian court found in favour of the country’s government in that particular case, the www2.bwin.com domain was also blacklisted in July.
A number of leading egaming operators have been added to the list since February, with everestpoker.be and titanpoker.be among the first, and bet365 and Winamax among those to join them over the course of this year.
A minority of operators have met the requirements for a dot.be licence, with a partnership with a land-based partner among the conditions which much be met. Those that hold a licence include PokerStars, Groupe Partouche and Unibet. A further licensee, Win2Day, launched in the jurisdiction last month with Prima Networks.
Other operators added to the blacklist this month include Betfred, Zeturf and 32Red (for its dot.com bingo site), all of which hold licences in other jurisdictions.
