Former Bodog UK and Sportingbet lawyer launches advisory firm
Stuart Tilly sets up iGaming Counsel in partnership with former Bodog colleague Shruti Gore.
Former Sportingbet European legal counsel Stuart Tilly has launched a London-based online gambling legal advisory firm, iGaming Counsel.
Tilly, who has also represented Bodog UK as in-house legal advisor, has set up the firm along with Shruti Gore, with whom he worked at the UK-licensed operator.
He spent just shy of five years with Sportingbet, joining in 2005, having previously served as an associate with international law firm Allen & Overy.
The firm hopes to advise egaming companies on a range of legal, commercial and regulatory challenges, and Tilly noted that “The online gaming industry poses ever evolving challenges in almost every aspect of the business.”
“The treatment of online gaming can differ vastly from one jurisdiction to the next and we believe it’s vital for any business in this industry to have the correct strategic approach coupled with a global vision to achieve long term success in one of the most fast paced, challenging and competitive industries worldwide,” he added.
Since being awarded its licence by the UK Gambling Commission last year, Bodog UK has significantly reduced its workforce with up to 70 staff leaving last April. It recently announced plans to remodel its dot.co.uk site to cater more to an Asian audience, removing its traditional poker offering and adding live dealer and baccarat.
