GTS co-founder joins Leander Games as CEO
Steven Matsell joins South American casino games company Leander Games as its new chief executive.
Gaming Technology Solutions (GTS) co-founder Steven Matsell has joined casino games company Leander Games as its new chief executive.
Matsell spent almost five years building up GTS before selling the business to Playtech at the end of 2009 for more than 20m. While there he was responsible for sales, product management, commercial, legal, customer relationship management and game development partners and has been credited with signing up a large number of operators to the platform.
Since the acquisition Playtech has used GTS’s Enhanced Gaming Engine (EdGE) open platform to provide its clients with access to the best in breed games. Following the sale Matsell was a board member of the Playtech Holding company for GTS.
Leander said Matsell is “ideally placed” to engage potential partners and customers to build upon its credentials as an international supplier of multi-channel games and game delivery solutions.
“Leander’s future success will be built upon its Remote Gaming Server LeGa which has been designed to facilitate faster distribution of its rapidly expanding portfolio of games across internet enabled and mobile devices,” it said in a statement.
Matsell said: “I’m very pleased to join such a passionate and committed team whose development of innovative, market leading slots and a remote gaming server has positioned them as one of the most interesting independent small businesses in our industry and I am excited to be part of its evolution.”
Ramiro Atucha, co-founder and former CEO and now business development director at Leander Games, said: “I had the chance of working closely with Steven through our partnership with GTS. His experience, professionalism and knowledge of the industry will be key to take our company to the next level. His involvement will also allow me to focus on what I enjoy most, continuing to grow and extending the business relationships I´ve been building for the past three years”.
Daniel Schultz Chairman added: “Steven has a wealth of experience in rolling out gaming propositions and the perfect industry pedigree to facilitate further success for Leander. His appointment signals a dynamic new phase for the company.”
In February this year Leander agreed to provide a selection of its games to SkyBet’s casino brand. Among the games included were Reely Poker and Reely Roulette, both of which were included in the supply deal the Argentinian solutions provider signed with Betsson last month.
